Our 2018 Events begin with our spring program. Fortunately, we planned our first big spring event for May. Who would have thought we'd be having snow in April?
We are all living longer. Most of us want to stay where we are. Housing and transportation are our connections to the community. But over time will we be able to continue living in the same home? How will we be able to get places?
On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at The Westwood in Garwood, the Senior Council will present Housing & Transportation: Your Community Connections. Free to the public, it will include a free breakfast, free on-site screenings from local area hospitals, and an opportunity to browse the many information exhibits on display. There will also be a special panel of guest speakers discussing housing and transportation solutions to keep us in our communities.
Will you be able to handle the upkeep and maintenance as the health of your loved ones and yourself change? What home modifications can you make to remain in your home? What about other independent living options and what if your needs continue to change over time? Is senior housing available? How do you apply and what does it cost? And, then there's transportation. What are New Jersey and Union
County doing to make it easier for us to get to the places
we need to be without our cars? What's all this we
keep hearing about UBER and Lyft? Are they safe and
cost effective? Do we have to have a smartphone to
use them? The featured topics are listed below. For
more information or to RSVP, please contact the
Senior Council at (908) 964-7555.
